Bushehr Reactor: Online

Some thirty-six years after launching its nuclear program under the Shah, Iran's first nuclear reactor is now online in the southern city of Bushehr. This marks a milestone for the Islamic Republic, and is sure to only add to the tension currently existing between Iran and the West over the country's nuclear program. At the same time, it should be noted that this particular site is exempt from UNSC sanctions, as it poses no nuclear weapons threat.
